Online or in-person coaching: which one gets results?
The honest answer is that the format matters far less than the frequency — but it does matter, and in a specific direction.
What online is better at
Showing up. A session you can take from your own kitchen survives a bad week, a sick child and a delayed train. Over four months, the person who kept every appointment online beats the person who kept two thirds of them in person, every time. Consistency is not a consolation prize here; it is the whole mechanism.
What in person is better at
The first conversation and the last one. Deciding to work with someone, and closing something off, both land harder in a room. If you can only do two in person, make them the first and the last.
The combination most people should pick
Start in person if you can. Run the middle online, weekly, without exception. Close in person. You will pay less in travel than in missed momentum.
One thing to check before you book anything
Ask what happens between sessions. A coach with no answer to that question is selling you an hour, not a change.
Common questions
For the ongoing work, yes, and often better because attendance is higher. For the first and last conversations, in person has a real edge.
A private room and a stable connection. Nothing else, and no special software you have to learn.
Yes. Most people do, usually towards online, and usually because life got busier rather than because they lost interest.
Still not sure? The fifteen-minute discovery call is free, and it is a real conversation rather than a sales call. You will get a straight answer about whether this is for you — including when it is not.
